vine, the six-second video app, is shutting down completely.

its owner, twitter, has decided to discontinue the mobile app, apparently as part of its plan to rescue itself from its ongoing crisis (currently culling staff)

the company said that it would keep the website open so that people could still see all of the videos that people have made in the past. but there will be no way of making or uploading new videos, since that must be done within the app.

vine said that it would share more information and timing on when the app would be shut down in the near future.
