100% ball point pens they are way less likely to smudge, though you do have to buy the right ones the cheap ones never last long.

Gel pens and definitely the Sarasa Zebra pens! These gel pens are my lifesavers when it comes to writing and completing my papers within an hour or two unlike ball point pens which do not appear pretty and clear for the markers (teachers) to see!
Who says that gel inked pens can smudge when you can get better pens, right?

I like gel pens a lot better than ballpoint. I feel like they write smoother tbh
