What's the saddest movie you've ever watched?
For me, the Quebec film Aurore (2005) had me bawling.
The film is about a girl named Aurore who lives a happy life until her mother has an illness and eventually dies. Whilst her ill mother was in hospital, Aurore's father has an affair with his wife's cousin; Marie-Anne. Marie-Anne and Aurore's father eventually marry and it all goes downhill from there. Marie-Anne, who has a history of abusing and killing her children sets target on Aurore and begins mistreating her. Once daddy's little girl, Aurore's father also starts abusing her. The villagers and the priest become aware and show concern for Aurore but there is only so much they can do to help her.
It gets pretty grim towards the end of the movie and what makes this movie even more heart wrenching is that it relates to the modern day as many children across the globe are suffering the same mistreatment from their parents. It's sad what little has been done to save these children and once help does arrive, it is already too late to save them.
Would love to know your sad movie recommendations and definitely check this movie out. It will leave you in anger and in tears.

The Notebook absolutely kills me, such a sad film but a really beautiful one too. Every time I watch it I cry like a baby.
Still Alice, Jack Frost, Interstellar (only in parts but the ending is SO SAD), The Fault In Our Stars etc.
